CAREER OPPORTUNITY – JUNIOR OPERATIONS REPRESENTATIVE 

Our Client, a local shipping company is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to fill the post of Junior Operations Representative.  The Junior Operations Representative will report to the Group Operations Manager.

THE ROLE 

The Junior Operations Representative will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the delivery of amendments, deposits and documents from the group of companies to the Barbados Port Inc. and the Customs department.
  • Filing documents with the Customs department and collecting documentation for  containers for the company. 
  • Checking port sheds for break-bulk cargo to be exported (for consolidated containers and inter-island vessels).
  • Assisting in the discharging and stowing of containers utilizing Principle’s software.
  • Assisting in the updating of daily container moves utilizing various software applications.
  • Assisting with the clearing of air shipments when required.
  • Ensuring company vehicles are well maintained.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Duties relevant to the Inter-Island service (Schooner vessels):

  • Preparing shipping orders and documents.
  • Boarding and clearing of vessel(s) with the regulatory agencies.
  • Assisting in the preparation of manifest and clearing the outbound vessel.

THE CANDIDATE 

The successful candidate should:

  • Have a minimum of five CXC passes including Math and English with at least two years’ experience working in a similar role.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and organisational skills.
  • Be detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks on a daily basis.
  • Have flexibility to work long hours (especially during peak periods).
  • Have the ability to work as a team, yet function independently with minimum supervision.
  • Be computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
