Our client, a local shipping company, is seeking to recruit a detailed and hands-on Warehouse Supervisor for its bonded warehouse.
The Warehouse Supervisor will report to the Operations Manager and be responsible for overseeing the effective receipt and storage and the prompt delivery of all cargo handled by the company and for the supervision of the warehouse team.
The Warehouse Supervisor will:
- Oversee and be involved in the effective planning, organising and flow of the warehouse’s overall operations.
- Organise all activities and assign jobs to the warehouse team as appropriate to ensure effective receipt, storage and retrieval of all cargo for customers.
- Motivate, organise and encourage teamwork to ensure agreed productivity targets are met.
- Maintain acceptable standards of health, safety, hygiene and security in the work environment, including external areas.
- Ensure that containers are unstuffed in a timely manner and according to stipulated rules and guidelines of Barbados Customs and the company’s timelines.
- Take photos of all damage to cargo which is visible during the unstuffing period and adequately advise all stakeholders by email
- Monitor the performance and progress of the warehouse team.
- Liaise closely with truckers and the office team to co-ordinate the arrival of containers on site.
- Keep a record of all storage applicable per consignment on a daily basis.
- Ensure an effective maintenance programme of company forklifts and any other company equipment.
- Solicit feedback from customers on the quality of service provided and with management take appropriate actions to improve service level.
The Warehouse Supervisor must possess the following:
- Proven leadership skills with at least five years’ experience in a supervisory position.
- Extensive experience in warehousing of stock and inventory control.
- Sound understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with Intermediate level experience using Word and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to plan and prioritise work to meet changing requirements in a dynamic environment.
- A positive attitude to continuous learning and self-development.
Experience in the shipping industry would be an asset.
