CAREER OPPORTUNITY – COMMERCIAL MANAGER
Profile
Our client, The Barbados Turf Club (BTC), is one of Barbados' most established and respected sporting institutions, playing a pivotal role in the island’s horseracing industry and contributing significantly to tourism, entertainment and employment. As BTC enters an exciting phase of transformation focused on commercial expansion, facility development, innovation and stakeholder engagement, the Club is inviting applications for a high-performing, results-driven Commercial Manager to drive business growth, build strategic partnerships and unlock new revenue opportunities.
The Role
The Commercial Manager will lead the commercial development and growth strategy of the BTC, ensuring the organization’s long-term financial sustainability. He/she will develop and execute strategies that enhance revenue, profitability and market presence. The role will drive business development initiatives, expand commercial partnerships, elevate the visitor experience and ensure the effective commercialisation of BTC’s facilities and resources.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy aligned with BTC’s strategic priorities.
• Drive initiatives to increase revenue through betting operations, sponsorships, merchandising, advertising, memberships, and facility rentals.
• Identify and develop new commercial opportunities locally, regionally, and internationally.
• Build strategic partnerships with corporate sponsors, tourism entities, event promoters, and industry stakeholders, collaborating on initiatives that enhance the Garrison as a preferred entertainment and tourism venue.
• Lead negotiations and relationship management for commercial agreements.
• Maximize commercial use of BTC facilities including the Sponsors Lounge and event spaces.
• Support development of merchandising and retail opportunities (souvenir shop, equine supply store).
• Track commercial KPIs and report monthly to the Board.
• Provide market intelligence and strategic recommendations to support decision-making.
• Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and performance evaluation.
The Candidate
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Management, or related discipline. MBA or equivalent will be considered an asset.
• Proven experience in commercial leadership including business development/revenue growth roles.
• An entrepreneurial mindset, focused on innovation and commercial creativity.
• Strong track record of securing partnerships, sponsorships, or commercial deals.
• Strong negotiation, strategic planning and relationship management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept to execution.
• Experience in sports, entertainment, tourism, hospitality or event-driven industries is highly desirable.
