HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER

 

Our client, a professional service firm in Barbados providing client focused accounting, advisory, auditing, consulting, corporate and tax services, is seeking a strategic and self-motivated Human Resource generalist to fill the position of Human Resource Officer. 

 

The Role 

The Human Resource Officer will report to the HR Partner and will be responsible for: 

·    Supporting the Partners and management by providing sound human resource advice and counsel, and assisting in decision making by maintaining current knowledge and understanding of labour legislation, trends and best practices.

·      Drafting or amending job descriptions for all roles in the Firm.

·  Preparing and amending contracts of employment in discussion with the HR Partner.

·   Managing the recruitment process including the identification of talent, use of assessments and related checks.

·   Developing and facilitating the orientation and onboarding process for all new hires.

·  Reviewing, updating and developing policies and procedures for the firm’s Employee Manual, with rollout to the company.

·    Administering employee benefits and managing leave in accordance with stated guidelines.

·    Coaching and supporting the Partners and Managers in performance management and employee evaluations.

·  Facilitating, coordinating and conducting employee training and development activities.

·      Investigating, recommending and implementing relevant technology (e.g. HRIS) to track HR metrics.

· Conducting annual/semi annual employee engagement surveys, analysing information and recommending and implementing initiatives to address gaps.

·    Acting as the Safety Champion and working with the Safety and Health Committee to ensure compliance.

 

The Candidate 

The Human Resource Officer will: 

·      Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field. HR certification would be an asset.

·  Have a minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience with sound knowledge of labour laws and their application.

·     Be proficient in the use of HR software and the various components of Microsoft Office Suite; namely Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

·      Be able to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.

·      Possess excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills.

·   Be able to work unsupervised with the ability to collaborate and engage team members to achieve results.
