The Profile
The Barbados Light & Power Company Limited (BLPC), a member of the Emera Group of Companies, is seeking applications from suitably qualified professionals to fill the position of Vice President (VP) Innovation & Transformation. Reporting to the Managing Director, this Executive is responsible for leading corporate strategy, digital transformation, data strategy and effective people development fostering a culture of innovation, positioning the company for long-term sustainability and growth. The position will have oversight of strategic planning and management, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Human Resource (HR) Management. 
 
The Role of VP Innovation & Transformation
  • To develop and execute the utility’s corporate strategy and transformation initiatives, aligning business objectives, technology advancements and workforce planning with future industry trends.
  • To oversee the utility’s ICT infrastructure, enterprise systems, cybersecurity and digital platforms, implementing technology-driven solutions, including automation, AI, cloud computing and IoT for operational efficiency.
  • To develop and oversee a comprehensive data governance framework, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and security.
  • To oversee workforce planning, leadership development and talent acquisition strategies, implementing HR technologies and performance management systems to enhance organizational efficiency.
  • To lead cross-functional teams to drive innovation, efficiency and operational excellence.
The Candidate
  • Qualifications in Business Administration, Information Technology, Engineering, Human Resources, or a related field, preferably at the Master’s level. Certification in Project Management (PMP), Change Management, IT Governance (CISM, CISSP) or HR Leadership (HRCI, SHRM) would be an asset.
  • A minimum of ten years’ leadership experience in corporate strategy, ICT, data analytics, or human resource management with a proven track record in leading transformation initiatives, digital adoption or enterprise-wide innovation.
  • Strong leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and driving cultural change.
